Announcement on Inspection and Quarantine Requirements for Imported Kenyan Wild Aquatic Products

Wild aquatic products refer to wild aquatic animal products and their products for human consumption, excluding species, live aquatic animals and other species listed in the appendix of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and China’s National Key Protected Wildlife List. Manufacturers (including fishing vessels, processing vessels, transport vessels, processing enterprises, and independent cold storages) exporting wild aquatic products to China shall obtain official approval from Kenya and be subject to their effective supervision. The sanitary conditions of the production enterprises shall comply with the requirements of the relevant food safety, veterinary hygiene and public health regulations of China and Kenya.

According to the Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Implementation Regulations of the Entry-Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People’s Republic of China, manufacturers that export wild aquatic products to China should register with China. Without registration, it is not allowed to export to China. The types of products that manufacturers apply for registration in China should be within the scope of wild aquatic products.

Wild aquatic products exported to China should be packaged with new materials that meet international sanitation standards, and should have separate inner packaging. The inner and outer packaging should meet the requirements of preventing pollution from external factors.

Each container of wild aquatic products exported from Kenya to China should be accompanied by at least one original veterinary (sanitation) certificate, which proves that the batch of products complies with the food safety, veterinary and public health laws and regulations and relevant regulations of China and Kenya.
