Brazil’s Coffee Exports Reach 40.4 Million Bags in 2021 with China as 2nd Largest Buyer

A report recently released by the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Association (Cecafé) shows that in 2021, Brazil exports 40.4 million bags of coffee (60 kg/bag) in total, decreased by 9.7% y/y. But the exports amount totaled US $6.242 billion.

Industry insider stresses that coffee consumption has continued to grow despite the difficulties brought by the pandemic. In terms of increase in purchase volume, China ranks 2nd., just after Colombia. China’s imports of Brazilian coffee in 2021 are 65% higher than in 2020, with an increase of 132,003 bags.
