AEO stands for “authorized economic operator”, which is a party involved in the international movement of goods in whatever function that has been approved by or on behalf of a national Customs administration as complying with WCO or equivalent supply chain security standards. Anyone involved in the international movement of goods can apply for AEO certificate irrespective of the size of your business, incl. Importers, Exporters, Warehouse-keepers, Manufacturers, Freight forwarders, Customs Agents, Carriers, E-Commerce platform, etc. After getting the AEO certificate, you may enjoy the lower frequency of Customs’ physical and documentary checks. You can also obtain the potential for future mutual recognition with countries all over the world. Until Oct. 2019 China has signed the AEO mutual recognition agreements with 41 countries.
