Prepackaged food refers to food that is quantitatively packaged in advance or produced and placed into packaging materials or containers, and directly supplied to consumers.

It has two key characteristics:
Pre-packaged before sale
Clearly labeled with a unified net weight or volume

What is NOT considered prepackaged food?

• Non-quantitative packaging, such as transport packaging used only to prevent contamination

• Simple packaging weighed and sold at retail stores

• Raw materials or ingredients used by food manufacturers or catering businesses, even if packaged

These categories do not fall under the definition of prepackaged food as defined by GB 7718.
