The first batch of Brazilian bovine blood products has been imported through Pudong Airport, with Shanghai Customs providing full-chain support for the healthy development of the pharmaceutical industry.

On August 26, nearly 1,300 bottles, totaling over 660 kilograms of finished fetal bovine serum, were cleared by Shanghai Pudong International Airport Customs and completed the customs procedures smoothly. This is the first batch of such products to enter China since the General Administration of Customs announced on April 16 this year that imports of Brazilian bovine blood products were allowed.

Bovine blood products refer to finished or semi-finished products derived from cows and processed physically for direct use in scientific research and production. These products contain essential nutritional components for cell culture processes and are widely used in various stages of biomedical research and production. As the domestic biomedical industry has rapidly developed in recent years, the demand for imported bovine blood products has significantly increased. From January to July 2024, the value of imported biomedical blood products through Shanghai ports reached 1.86 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 13.06%.
