Yes. Exhibitors at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) may provide product trials, tastings, demonstrations, or distribute samples on-site, provided they comply with China Customs requirements.
To facilitate customs clearance and compliance, exhibitors should notify Shanghai Customs in advance, in writing, of the estimated quantity of consumable exhibition items and clearly specify their intended use (e.g., tasting, sampling, demonstration, or giveaway). The quantity declared should be reasonable and proportionate to the scale of the exhibition activities.
In addition, the products must be supported by appropriate conformity documentation, which may include:
Official certificates issued by the exporting country’s authorities
Third-party testing reports
Self-inspection qualification reports issued by the exhibitor
Product compliance declarations issued by the exhibitor
Proper preparation not only ensures smooth customs clearance but also helps avoid compliance risks during the exhibition.
If you have questions regarding CIIE exhibit importation, customs clearance procedures, temporary admission, ATA Carnets, exhibit sales, or post-exhibition retention, feel free to reach out.
