Can CIIE Exhibits Be Converted to Cross-Border E-commerce Sales After the Exhibition?

Yes.

Exhibits imported for the China International Import Expo (CIIE) may be transferred to the Cross-Border E-commerce (CBEC) retail import model after the exhibition, provided that the relevant customs requirements are met.

Companies intending to do so should:
Report their intention in advance to both the exhibition customs office and the customs authority supervising the destination bonded area.
Clearly indicate in the remarks section of the Certificate for Imported Exhibition Goods:
“The exhibits listed are intended for conversion to Cross-Border E-commerce sales.”

As the customs procedures involve multiple regulatory requirements, working with an experienced customs brokerage partner can help ensure a smooth and compliant transition.

If you’re planning to import exhibits for CIIE or explore post-exhibition CBEC opportunities in China, feel free to connect or send me a message. I’d be happy to discuss the best compliance solutions for your business.
