If an overseas food manufacturer has not registered with China Customs, your import business may soon come to a halt.
China’s Regulations on the Registration and Administration of Overseas Manufacturers of Imported Food came into full effect on January 1, 2022.
Under the new rules, China introduced a risk-based management approach aligned with the Food Safety Law:
1.18 categories of high-risk food require official recommendation by the competent authority of the exporting country.
2. Manufacturers of all other food categories may follow a more streamlined self-application process.
Compliance with this registration requirement is essential for customs clearance and market entry.
If you’d like to know which 18 food categories fall under official recommendation or how to complete the registration procedure, feel free to reach out via private message.
